CREEKSIDE KITCHEN

A brain healthy, balanced diet is a vital part of holistic living at any age. Led by culinary expert and chef Hunter Blais, Johnson Creek Village’s Creekside Kitchen offers our residents what they crave, a taste of home. That means scratch made familiar offerings that are as nutritious as they are delicious. We also know that as people age, and especially when they are aging with dementia, they may have particular dietary needs. For that reason, our menu always includes opportunities for modified culinary choices.

To slow the effects of Alzheimer’s we have embraced the MIND diet as the inspiration for our dining program. Short for Mediterranean-Dash Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay, the MIND diet is a combination of two other healthy eating plans: The Mediterranean diet, which is based on the eating habits of people who live in Mediterranean countries and has been shown to improve cardiovascular health, and the DASH eating plan, which was created by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute to help reduce blood pressure and improve heart health.
